From Awareness to Action: Building a Stronger European Movement to End FGM.

The End FGM EU 2026-2028 project, led by the End FGM European Network (End FGM EU), aims to eliminate Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) across Europe. The network, comprising 39 organisations in 16 countries, advocates for a coordinated, human rights-based approach. The project involves policy advocacy, communication, partnerships, and capacity-building to engage stakeholders at all levels, from grassroots communities to European policymakers. Key objectives include strengthening member capacities, raising public awareness, and influencing policy. Activities include advocacy at EU and international levels, sharing good practices, community empowerment, and fostering cross-border cooperation to ensure the effective implementation of legal frameworks against FGM. End FGM EU aims to increase understanding of FGM as gender-based violence, particularly within the context of human rights and children’s rights. The project focuses on strengthening alliances, expanding the network, and ensuring the implementation of EU commitments like the Gender Equality Strategy and the Istanbul Convention. Through its efforts, the network seeks to contribute to the EU's objectives on gender equality, violence prevention, and human rights. End FGM EU plays a key role in the European movement to eliminate FGM and aligns local, national, and European actions to achieve lasting change.
