Description

Description

"The historical roots of Catanzaro and its connection with Magna Graecia since antiquity; its important presence and role during the Byzantine period; the existence of the Magna Græcia University of Catanzaro nowadays; and more recently, the newly-founded and already fruitful collaboration between Catanzaro and Tripolis through the programme “Intelligent Cities Challenge (ICC)”, have been important reasons why the two cities have decided to foster their relations. Following the successful town-twinning agreement that the two Mayors signed online due to COVID-19 travel restrictions, it is now high time the two Municipal authorities consolidated their relation in vivo. The ""Magna Graecia"" project aims to create a strong and lasting relationship between the cities of Catanzaro and Tripolis. The main objective is to create a common way of action between the two cities that allows a continuous relationship of collaboration over time aimed at social integration and cultural exchange. The general needs of the two cities can be found in the necessity to collaborate to achieve greater success in future European initiatives. The aim is to share a common strategy to achieve greater success in various fields, including that of the Intelligent Cities Challenge project, and to create a virtuous circle for the implementation of new initiatives. The project involves the creation of a workshop in which the representatives of the two cities will have the opportunity to get to know each other and exchange best practices. Social and gender inclusion will also be promoted; in fact, the event will involve at least 50 people equally distributed between both municipalities. A presentation brochure of the event will be produced which will provide an overview of the event. At the end of the initiative, a recap document related to the event and its results will be produced."
