From Regional to Local: Successful deployment of the Smart Specialization Strategies

RELOS3 “From REgional to LOcal” project proposes an innovative approach of the Smart Specialization Strategies (S3) deployment by involving local authorities and subregional actors. RIS3 successful deployment is crucial in order to secure the delivery of Innovation in the EU regions. Most of the partner's specializations are connected to industrial systems, advanced manufacturing and industrial applied design and ICT specializations in order to ensure a fruitful cooperation, however the project will not exclude other possible specializations which can be related to industry. RELOS3 is an unique opportunity to develop and contrast local RIS3 strategies. The findings will contribute to improve ERDF OPs with priority investments dedicated to RIS3 deployment and therefore to promote delivery of innovation. The partners will achieve this objective by: -Demonstrating the importance of the role of the local authorities involvement in the RIS3 strategies implementation. -Analyzing the partners state of the art by elaborating a detailed baseline and final study. (including evaluation survey) and GPdatabase. -Producing RAPs on the basis of the transnational exchange and coproduced with the support of Local Stakeholder Groups. -Involving the policy owners and the relevant local/regional actors and make them work together as a “local stakeholder group” . -Undertaking Capacity building activities for policy owners, policy makers and relevant stakeholders. RELOS3 project will divide the interregional learning exchange and analysis in the following themes: -Alignment of local (supra local) economic development strategies to RIS3 strategies. -The participation of private sector in territorial innovation operations to pave the way of RIS3 deployment . -Promotion of cooperation between EU regions with similar or complementary smart specializations . -Sustainability of quadruple helix collaboration (Adm, Industry, R+D and Academy , citizens) beyond RIS3 strategy .
