Description
Description | This project focuses on the critical juncture of Bulgaria’s anticipated adoption of the Euro in 2026 and explores its implications for regional economic integration, with a particular emphasis on its relevance for Turkey’s EU relations. By leveraging the comparative experiences of Bulgaria and Turkey, EUROPATH aims to foster a nuanced understanding of the economic, political, and social dimensions of European integration. Through a multidimensional approach that combines teaching, research, and outreach, the project will examine the opportunities and challenges associated with Bulgaria’s transition to the Euro. Key activities include: Developing innovative academic courses on the Euro, EU economic integration, and the political economy of European enlargement. Conducting cutting-edge research on the economic impacts of Euro adoption in Bulgaria and its lessons for Turkey. Engaging stakeholders and the public through seminars, public lectures, and workshops to enhance awareness and foster informed dialogue. EUROPATH will also address key issues such as Euroscepticism, regional cooperation, and the role of shared EU values in shaping public perception and policymaking. By bridging academic and societal perspectives across Sofia and Istanbul, the project aspires to contribute to the broader discourse on EU integration, fostering economic stability and collaboration between member and candidate countries. The project's ultimate goal is to create a sustainable platform for dialogue and collaboration, enhancing the understanding of EU policies and promoting stronger ties between Bulgaria, Turkey, and the EU. EUROPATH will serve as a model for addressing the complexities of integration in a rapidly evolving European landscape. |
