Description

Oracle is investing in a massive AI-focused cloud computing data center in West Texas, known as the Frontier campus. The project is developed by Vantage Data Centers and will have a capacity of 1.4 gigawatts, making it one of the largest data centers globally. The campus spans 1,200 acres and will host 10 data centers totaling 3.7 million square feet. It is designed to handle ultra-high-density racks of 250 kilowatts or more and will use liquid cooling for next-generation GPU workloads to meet AI computing needs. Construction is underway, with the first building expected to be ready in the second half of 2026. Oracle plans to operate the site using gas generators, spending over $1 billion annually, due to delays in connecting to local power grids.
