Description
Description | The proposed project in coastal province of Fujian in the PRC will address the significant climate change risks and hazards, and biodiversity loss challenges of two coastal cities. Project objectives will be to improve urban climate change resilience and biodiversity of two cities in coastal province of Fujian in the PRC. Lessons and potential replication will benefit also other coastal cities in Fujian Province and the PRC through a strategic knowledge partnership between the two cities, the province and the national government. Three outputs are proposed. Output 1: Institutional strengthening and capacity development achieved. This includes consulting services and investments in ICT infrastructure as shared monitoring and cross-agency coordination platforms for urban resilience, early warning and biodiversity monitoring. Output 2: Coastal cities resilience improved. This includes investments in nature-based solutions as green-blue infrastructure that will be integrated with gray infrastructure through urban rehabilitation and retrofitting of existing urban areas.Output 3: Biodiversity and wetlands enhanced. This includes investments in conservation of the preserves of wetlands and mangroves, integrating low-impact livelihoodimprovements and low-impact wildlife observation tourism. |
