Description | Japanese architecture studio Vuild has designed an entirely-wooden stadium to be the new home of Fukushima United FC in Fukushima, Japan. The two-tiered stadium will contain 5,000 seats sheltered by a continuous rippling timber roof. It is planned to be built with participation from local residents as a symbol of recovery following the 2011 earthquake, tsunami, and nuclear disaster. The stadium will be constructed using locally-sourced laminated timber, designed for disassembly and reuse to support circular use of regional resources. Facilities include players' areas, storage, VIP areas, skyboxes, media areas, and hotel accommodation on the upper floor. Renewable systems including rainwater collection aim to minimize energy consumption and achieve energy self-sufficiency. |
