Description | Fulton County is undergoing a countywide solar panel installation project aiming to use solar energy for 20% of the municipality’s energy by 2030. The project includes installing solar panels on 46 county facilities initially, with a total of 53 solar panel installations planned covering one-quarter of its buildings. The project is expected to produce about 6.8 million kilowatt hours annually, equivalent to powering about 560 homes and avoiding about 3.3 million pounds of emissions. The county partnered with Atlanta-based Cherry Street Energy to install and maintain the panels under a 20-year contract, estimating savings of nearly $2.4 million during that time. |
