Description | Siemens Mobility and L K Comstock will modernise New York City’s Fulton Liberty subway lines with advanced Communications Based Train Control (CBTC) technology. The project includes upgrading 23 stations and 65 track kilometres across Brooklyn and Queens, replacing ageing signalling infrastructure with Siemens' Trainguard MT CBTC system. The upgrade will improve train frequency to intervals as short as 90 seconds, enhance operational flexibility, and introduce 5G commuter cellular service within tunnels and stations. L.K. Comstock will manage infrastructure works including decommissioning old signalling systems, installing new equipment, constructing four new train control rooms, installing 94 switch machines, and laying over 1,200 kilometres of cable. Siemens Mobility will oversee a 25-year maintenance agreement post-installation. |
