Description

Description

The Jean Monnet Module “Fundamental Rights in EU Business Law and Policy” is a three - year teaching and research module with a specialization in EU legal studies. The module's central objective is to stimulate teaching, research and reflection on the implementation of fundamental rights at the national, European and international level in the context of the digital transformation of EU business and society and the increasingly globalized economy in which the EU plays an important role with spreading European values in a globalized world. The module's aim is to equip participants (students, legal practitioners, civil society) with a better understanding of the impact of fundamental rights on EU Business Law and Policy in particular and on globalized economy in general and the ability to use the gained knowledge in everyday legal practice and to be prepared for and actively shape future developments in the related fields, and thereby promote active citizenship. In so doing, it will contribute to the Europeanisation of the Faculty's curricula and promote the professional development of young researchers. The module provides lectures also to students from other departments who mostly do not come into contact with EU studies (e.g. computer science, tourism, economics and business, sociology). All these studies have limited exposure to but are increasingly affected by European aspects. The module’s aim is also to foster the dialogue between the academic world and policy-makers, in particular to enhance the governance of EU policies. To this end, the module's activities (a conference, roundtables etc.) target policy makers at local, regional, national and international level. Moreover, activities will target civil society to raise awareness of EU policies in this field. This is especially important in the context of the globalized supply chains, the environmental problems, and also in the context of the Digital Single Market.
