Description
Description | The project aims to improve the future prospects of adolescents and young adults in and outside the Rohingya refugee camps in the Coxs Bazar district of Bangladesh. With its focus on school education, youth protection and everyday skills for older children and adolescents, the project builds on previous transitional aid projects to support the education sector in the Rohingya Crisis Response Mechanism. On the one hand, secondary education will be introduced for 12,000 children in grades 6 to 12 in the temporary learning centers in the Rohingya refugee camps, with lessons being taught according to the Myanmar curriculum. In addition, the KWI-funded project will provide child and youth protection services for around 57,000 people, addressing issues such as sexual violence, exploitation and gender-specific discrimination and aimed at affected children and adolescents as well as teachers, parents, caregivers and the community. The aim is to strengthen the resilience and everyday skills of the target group and prevent negative coping strategies. In close cooperation with initiatives close to the target group, both Rohingya refugees and at-risk children and young people from the surrounding communities are addressed. The project sponsor and recipient of the EUR 8.5 million financial contribution provided by the BMZ is the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF). |
