Description
Description | Over 14% of the European young people aged between 15 and 29 are not in education, employment, or training (NEET). The risk of societal exclusion is even 70% higher among those with an migratory background. Socioeconomic challenges, discrimination, inadequate understanding how society works, and the inability to see prospects and opportunities may lead to under-performance in the school system, alienation, or even extremism. The FUTU4U project promotes societal inclusiveness and a sense of belonging to one's community and the European Union for young people (aged 18-30), especially those with a migratory background. FUTU4U empowers young Europeans to build preferred futures for themselves as part of their thriving communities and the European Union. During “Language of Democracy” Cafes, the young Europeans are introduced to democratic processes, concepts and language needed to take part in civil society. During the following “Futuring Good Life” Workshops the young co-future preferable futures in participatory Futures Workshops for themselves, their communities and for the European Union. In the end, during the “Policies for Good Life”, the voices of the young are collated and channeled to European Union policymakers and the participatory methods are disseminated and taught to national and international networks of practitioners working with the youth for extended reach. The project consortium will organize a total of 36 activies in Finland, Ireland, Slovenia, Italy and Belgium, aiming to directly reach 2475 (min. 1670 and max. 3300) citizens in Europe and indirectly reach 10 000 people with the help of multipliers, media, and social media. Based on project results, the Consortium will create an open-access guidebook of the developed and validated participatory methods, which will be available after the project's duration for extended impact. |
