Description

Description

In March of 2004, Fuzhou CWC Water Company Limited (Fuzhou CWC) won a 30-year concession contract for the operations and management of the Fuzhou Economic & Technological Development Zone (FETDZ) Water Supply Company, following a public tender lead by the Property Right Transaction Institution of Fujian Province. The utility had a daily capacity of 125,000 tonnes of water. Fuzhou CWC was established in early 2004 and was a Sino-foreign cooperative joint venture between China Water Company (CWC) (72%) and the state-owned FETDZ Baimei Water Supply Company Limited (Baimei Company) (28%). CWC, in turn, was owned by the UK's RWE-Thames Water (48.8%) and Sime Darby of Malaysia (33.3%) by 2002. The registered capital of Fuzhou CWC was RMB 210 million (US$25.4 million), of which RMB 150 million (US$18 million) was contributed by CWC. The transfer of assets commenced on 27 December 2004, when operation of the utility was successfully handed over to Fuzhou CWC. http://www.invest-inchina.com/english/InvestmentNews/news_info.asp?id=100822 None
