In order to achieve a sustainable stabilization of the macroeconomic situation in Ghana, measures for the efficient use of funds, improved transparency and accountability, and to reduce corruption are necessary. The Ghana Audit Service plays a key role in this. It is responsible for auditing the financial management of all public institutions. The aim of the FC project is therefore to improve the control of accountability by strengthening the regional structure of the Ghana Audit Service. To achieve this goal, FC funds amounting to EUR 11.5 million are to be made available for the establishment of a total of 12 regional and district offices at strategically relevant locations. The investment measure will strengthen the independence of the Court of Audit, which is currently housed at the decentralized level in offices of the institutions it is supposed to audit. This will increase the coverage of the decentralized institutions through Court of Audit reports. The target group of the project is the entire population of Ghana, who will benefit from improved government accountability. The borrower and recipient is the Republic of Ghana, represented by the Ministry of Finance. The sponsoring body is the Ghana Court of Auditors.
