Description | The Galana-Kulalu Food Security Project is a mega irrigation initiative aimed at enhancing food production in Kenya. Initially launched in 2014, the project involves developing a 10,000-acre model farm with plans to irrigate up to one million acres. It includes infrastructure such as water reservoirs, irrigation canals, pump stations, and a new intake to ensure water flow. The project is implemented under a Public-Private Partnership framework with private firms managing different sections of the 250,000-acre scheme. It aims to increase maize production, reduce import dependence, create jobs, and promote agribusiness. |
