The project involves the demolition of the psychiatric unit and the development of a new three-story 8,500 m² building at University Hospital Galway, Ireland.University Hospital Galway (UHG) is the first designated cancer center to initiate the implementation of the National Cancer Information System (NCIS), a project that will eventually be adopted across all 26 hospitals nationwide providing Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapy. The NCIS holds significant importance as a priority initiative under the National Cancer Control Programme. Its purpose is to assist hospitals in effectively delivering high-quality systemic anti-cancer therapy in alignment with the National Cancer Strategy.Within UHG, this system establishes a unified, nationwide computerized platform for recording and preserving data related to a patient's cancer case, diagnosis, and treatment. The overarching objective of this endeavor is to develop a clinical information system tailored to support the comprehensive care of oncology and haemato-oncology patients. This encompasses the provision of Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapy, including chemotherapy.
