Description
Description | Gallito Ciego Power Plant commenced its operations in Oct. 1997, being owned and operated by the Mauricio Hochschild Group. In Nov. 2000, Vattenfall's subsidiary Nordic Power acquired 100% of the shares of CNP Energia (this acquisition included also Arcata Energia, a company which owns two captive power plants; Vattenfall paid nearly US$ 28 million for both acquisitions). CNP Energia has two power plants: the Gallito Ciego Plant, with a capacity of 38 MW hydro power and the Pacasmayo Thermal station. While the thermal station provides electricity to Cementos Pascamayo alone, the Gallito Ciego plant is connected to the Center North Interconnected System through a transmission line owned by Hidrandina and a substation owned by Etecen. In addition, the plant is connected to the city of Cajamarca through another transmission line owned by Hidrandina. Investment figures have not been disclosed by Vattenfall. In October of 2001 NRG Energy completed its purchase from Vattenfall of the company's 100% stake in both Cementos Norte Pacasmayo Energia and Arcata Energia. In 2003, Norwegian firm Statkraft Norfund Power (SN Power), a 50-50 JV between Statkraft and Norfund, bought Pacasmayo from the US-based NRG Energy. The transfer also included NRG's Peruvian assets of Cahua Energia. None None |
