Gambia - Costal Protection Study

This intervention concerns the Coastal Protection Study. It should help to identify the most appropriate protection measures for critical areas. These measures aim not only to protect the infrastructure located on the waterfront, but also to restore the balance of the ecosystem and thus promote economic activities. The new protection structures envisaged in vulnerable coastal areas and the coastal development system should also help to revitalize the constantly declining activities of hotels located on the waterfront and develop the tourist industry. The study is expected to be conducted in two phases. The first phase includes (A) the technical feasibility and economic viability study of the protective structures to be built on the Gambian coast, (B) the detailed environmental impact study for component A. The second phase covers detailed technical studies, preparation of tender documents and cost estimates for Component A activities.
