Gambia - Modernization of the Groundnut Processing Industry Project (Phase I)

The present intervention concerns the Modernization of the Groundnut Processing Industry Project (Phase I). It’s justified on technical grounds in that once the oil mill is modernized, its processing capacity will increase by 63 %, and some processing costs will be reduced. The provision of storage facilities, cyclones, conveyors and a generator set are appropriate to the requirements of the situation at the factories. The project consists of renovation of pressing plant at Denton Bridge, construction of storage and ancillary works at Kaur and Denton Bridge, the acquisition and installation of power plants, improving the wharf, provision of cyclones to the decorticating machines, provision of vehicles and office equipment, and consultancy services for detailed engineering and supervision.
