Description
Description | Today Scandinavia is the world leader in the gaming industry. Maintaining this position requires cooperation and development between the countries. The Game Hub Scandinavia project aims to establish 100 new gaming businesses and at the same time explore the possibilities for spreading the gaming industry into new industries and markets, such as the Asian. The Game Hub Scandinavia project sees a clear picture in front of it — in the future it is to Scandinavia that companies all over the world turn when they want to develop new games. With well-established companies, gaming trainings and efficient incubators, there are good conditions to achieve that goal. Game Hub Scandinavia, however, wants to secure and develop the position through a number of efforts. The gaming industry is so much bigger than many people think, it is one of the world’s fastest growing industries. We believe that gaming is what Scandinavia should do in the future, and then we need to find new areas to invest in," says Tove Ingerslev, Project Manager for Game Hub Scandinavia. Gamification opens doors: They see two unique starting points for the Kattegat and Skagerak regions to develop: good infrastructure and development of gamification. The latter means moving the gaming world into other activities where it can be useful, such as in welfare, education, marketing and environmental awareness. For example, you can develop a game that helps you think climate-smart, which you might otherwise forget," says Tove Ingerslev. This is an area where we can bet and make a lot of money. But we need to get started now. Other countries also see potential in the gaming industry, and then it is important that we ride the wave already now. Prize for previous projects: The project’s predecessor — Scandinavian Game Developers — won the award for its innovative way of working. The new project takes into account what has been learned in the past. Among other things, it has been seen that it is effective to allow new games to be free for the first three months, and instead to fund them through advertising or premium versions. This, and the successful investment in incubators, will therefore continue to work on. At the same time, the gaming industry is changing, and the project is on your toes. The gaming industry is a very dynamic world that is constantly changing, which means that we must constantly develop new models. Clear objectives: One of the project’s goals to create up to 400 new workplaces in the gaming area. Another goal is to establish yourself in the Chinese market. There sees a strength in being able to work together across borders to understand the cultural differences with the Chinese market and develop culturally adapted games, but also gain synergies by marketing oneself together and thus become more visible. When the project ends in summer 2018, Game Hub Scandinavia hopes that they have really put the region on the map. But also that the incubation models previously developed have also been established in Norway and that the three countries continue to work across borders. We want to create a tradition of working together. If we do that, the cake we will share will be much bigger than if we work country by country," says Tove Ingerslev. |
