The project was tendered in September 2009, and was open to 10 shortlisted firms. Initially, 72 firms were interested. The projects were to be commissioned by 2014. No financial closure was reported. The project was expected to be funded by the KfW, the EIB and the EU Neighborhood Investment Facility (NIF). In 2010 it was reported that Japan promised a $432 million soft loan. An estimated cost of $432 million was maintained here (Japanese potential loan). This seems to be either old information, of a separate wind farm. It also involved a different contract structure (BOO + 20yr PPA). http://www.eolicenergynews.org/?p=4941 http://www.menafn.com/menafn/1093313529/Egypt-gets-USD430m-loan-for-wind-power-project http://www.eib.org/projects/pipeline/2007/20070089.htm http://www.energymatters.com.au/index.php?main_page=news_article&article_id=1956 http://www.energymatters.com.au/index.php?main_page=news_article&article_id=1956 Conflicting info on contract sturcture and potential financing.
