In November 2008, the government terminated the partnership with Spectrum Group because of "fundamental breaches of the provisions of the partnership agreement". Based on publicly available information, no other details were available. Gamtel continued to operate in the Gambian market until as recently as 2011, and beyond, but it remained in state hands.
