Description | The central government has sanctioned Rs 1,241 crore for the enhancement of a 63-km stretch of the Agia, Medhipara, Phulbari, and Tura (AMPT) Road, focusing on the segment from Phulbari (Chibinang) to Tura in the West Garo Hills district. The road, designated as NH-127B, will be upgraded to a two-lane configuration with paved shoulders, with funding assistance from the Japan International Cooperation Agency. The project is divided into two packages: Package-I (31.50 km, Rs 737 crore) currently in bidding phase, and Package-II (31.72 km, Rs 504 crore) where construction started on May 16, 2025. The project is expected to be completed by 2027, enhancing regional connectivity and economic growth. |
