Gary E. West Pridelands Lion Habitat

under construction

A 20,000-square-foot lion habitat at Oglebay Good Zoo, representing the most ambitious expansion in the zoo's history. It will be West Virginia's first lion habitat at an AZA-accredited facility and one of the largest in the eastern United States. The habitat includes climate-controlled indoor and outdoor areas, climbing structures, resting platforms, and enrichment activities to encourage natural behaviors. It is part of Outpost Africa, a multi-species area housing African animals like cheetahs, zebras, and red river hogs. The project also features Prideland Villas, safari-style accommodations with views of the lions and night tours with night vision goggles.
