The proposed investment is in the form of an €11 million corporate A loan from IFC, and an €11 million parallel senior loan from Proparco to support the expansion in Côte d’Ivoire, Guinea, Senegal, and Mali of Gaselia Industries Group (Gaselia or the Sponsor), an existing IFC client (project # 29470) and one of the largest beverage and packaging groups in West Africa (the Project). Gaselia operates 4 plants in Mali, Cote d’Ivoire and Senegal and produces carbonated soft drinks (CSD), mineral water, preforms and caps for plastic bottles and carbon dioxide for beverages. The Sponsor is currently building a greenfield CSD plant in Guinea in an industrial zone near Conakry, the capital city. The 5 ha new Guinean project site will be constructed through an engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contract engaging a workforce of approximately 100 workers. During operation the plant will employ 75-100 workers. There are communities living in the vicinity of the site. Expansion activities will include additional equipment to increase production in all countries.
