Description | The Maharashtra Maritime Board (MMB) is building a passenger jetty and terminal facility near Mumbai's Gateway of India. The project includes a parking area for 150 cars, VIP lounges, waiting areas, ticket counters, an amphitheatre, and a tennis racquet-shaped jetty on stilts in the sea. It is planned on approximately 1.5 acres of reclaimed sea about 280 meters from the Gateway of India, near the Radio Club in south Mumbai. The project aims to provide safe and modern infrastructure to manage passenger movement between Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, Mandwa (Alibaug), and Elephanta Island, and to decongest the roads surrounding the heritage site. |
