Gateway Project

The Gateway Project is an initiative to connect Rice University campus to Rice Village through a pedestrian- and eco-friendly corridor. It includes the extension of Amherst Street, creation of green spaces, modern drainage and sewer systems, and aims to attract mixed-use developments such as retail, multifamily housing, restaurants, and a grocery store. The project also involves significant renovations to the historic Rice Stadium, including a new three-level west concourse building, upgraded restrooms and concession buildings, and a reduction in stadium capacity to create a more intimate environment. Additionally, a new indoor practice pavilion will be added adjacent to the Brian Patterson Sports Performance Center.
