Description | The Gaza Industrial Estate Project development objectives are to increase direct and indirect employment in Gaza and contribute to Gaza's GDP by creating conditions conducive to private sector industrial investment, including appropiate physical infrastructure. The project has four components: 1) Off-site infrastructure, the construction of facilities to enable Palestinian utilities and agencies to provide necessary services to the GEI, including water, wastewater, sewage and stormwater disposal, electric power and access roads. 2) The land component will comprise leasing of land used for the site and for the installation of off-site infrastructure. 3) Site development, includes development of the GIE site, containing standard factory buildings, open lots, administration buildings and on-site distribution of infrastructure services. 4) Technical assistance component, includes institution building and project management for the Palestinian Industrial and Free Zones Authority (PIFZA), adquisition of environmental monitoring equipment for PIFZA and the Ministry of Industry, and training for staff of the Palestinian Environment Authority (PEnA). |
