Description

The FC measure Multisectoral Investment Program Gaza promotes investments in electricity generation from renewable energies and contributes to increasing energy efficiency. The aim is to make the central water and sewage infrastructure more reliable, efficient and climate-friendly. The project is an individual measure and is assigned to the scope for design. The project comprises several funding components that are to be implemented in phases. The project includes the introduction of renewable energies (PV systems) and energy efficiency measures for central infrastructure in the Gaza Strip. Project sponsor for the Coastal Municipalities Water Utility (CMWU), which has been a long-standing partner of FC in the water sector. The costs of the first two phases are estimated at around EUR 20 million (including a stock check of EUR 10 million), which will be provided as a grant. No contribution from the Palestinian side is planned. Part of the investment measure is to support the sponsor in setting up an energy efficiency unit to monitor energy consumption and implement further energy saving measures.
