GCI Acquisition of Quintillion to Enhance Alaska Fiber Infrastructure

planned

GCI Holdings announced an agreement to acquire Quintillion, an Alaskan fiber infrastructure provider, for $310 million. The acquisition will combine Quintillion's existing subsea and terrestrial fiber network with GCI's statewide network to bolster fiber infrastructure across Alaska. The deal includes reimbursement for capital expenditures related to the Nome-to-Homer Express project, aimed at providing redundant middle-mile backhaul capability. Post-acquisition, GCI will provide a $160 million unsecured loan to Quintillion and operate the combined network to improve resilience and reduce outages.
