The Garment Exporters Association of Rajasthan has established the GEAR Training & Research Foundation, a training and research centre aimed at addressing the shortage of skilled and semi-skilled manpower in the garment industry. The centre will conduct skill development programmes tailored to industry needs and carry out research to understand global market requirements to improve exports from Rajasthan. Training modules will cover various roles such as tailors, master trainers, pattern makers, quality controllers, checkers, merchandisers, and designers, with course durations ranging from 15 days to three months. The institute plans to train 1,000 to 1,500 students annually, creating a pipeline of industry-ready professionals. The project has mobilised around Rs 3.5 crore funding from its members and seeks support from relevant government agencies.
