Description

Description

With our FUTURE EUROPE project, we want to draw on our common past and common values such as peace, freedom, integration, democracy, environmental protection, etc. strengthen European identification and democracy, especially among our young people - as described in the European Action Plan for Democracy and the European Green Deal. The importance of peace and freedom will be conveyed at an information event with a visit to the concentration camp memorial in Ebensee and the Resistance Museum in Prato, as well as a workshop on what we can learn from them today for the preservation of democracy, peace and freedom. A final report summarizing the events and results will be prepared for this workshop. This program point is followed by an intensive exchange of young people on participation in democratic decision-making processes in the community. In Wangen im Allgäu there has been a youth council for ten years, in Prato since last year. Participation in democratic decision-making processes is discussed together with young people from Ebensee and summarized in a communiqué as a guideline for the position of youth representatives in the community. The young people get to know democratic decision-making processes very early on and how they can best get involved. In Prato, with residents from 132 nations, including the largest Chinese community in Italy with 30,000 people, there are encounters with representatives of these ethnic groups. Experiences about and expectations of coexistence between the local population and foreign fellow citizens are discussed here. The exchange is presented in the final report on the entire project. The project will be rounded off with a joint musical project, the premiere of a work composed especially for this occasion, which will be performed together by young musicians from all three participating cities. The work is offered for performance to the orchestras from the participating cities, but also to all interested orchestras.
