Description | In this project, a commercial-scale gas-phase concentrating solar thermal power (CSP) system will be developed in the first two Gen3 phases and, if selected for the third phase, developed into a test facility. The megawatt-scale test system will absorb energy from a heliostat field and deliver it into a thermal energy storage system, storing nine megawatt-hours of heat at a temperature of 750 ° Celsius for a minimum of ten hours. The energy then moves into a working fluid that could have a round-trip efficiency of 99 percent, creating a CSP solution that enables on-demand renewable energy. |
