Description

Description

"COVID-19 poses distinct dangers due to the ingrained gender roles of women and girls, the illness itself, and larger gender-related concerns stemming from the social and economic turmoil. Women's traditional duties as caregivers, both within the family and as health-care employees, raise their risk of developing the disease while also increasing the amount of unpaid care labor they must do. COVID-19 is a public health, economic, and societal issue that disproportionately affects the most vulnerable populations and exacerbates social exclusion and prejudice faced by disadvantaged groups such as those with disabilities and those living in severe poverty. This is especially true for women and girls who live in these impoverished and marginalized communities. Exclusion of women and girls from decision-making roles; increased sexual harassment and violence against women and girls; lack of access to sexual and reproductive health and rights; a reduction in overall health, education, and basic services; reduced income; increased food insecurity; and increased rights violations are some of the broader gender-related risks during a health crisis. During times of crisis, the necessity of developing gender equality problems and activities is sometimes overlooked owing to ""the tyranny of the urgent,"" as some practitioners refer to it. As a result, a differential gender impact analysis is critical for a successful response to this crisis, considering the critical role women play in peacebuilding via equality. As a result, the module comprises a variety of titles that focus on different aspects of the barriers that women face in finding decent employment, helping raise the number of women who work in decent circumstances and contributing to the advancement of gender equality.
