Description
Description | "The ""Generation Z & Alpha in the Driver’s Seat for Youth Participation and European Democracy"" project is a transnational initiative designed to redefine youth participation in democratic life, adapting governance structures to the evolving engagement habits of new generations. Recognizing that Generation Z and Alpha interact with democracy differently—through digital activism, social movements, and alternative participation methods—the project seeks to bridge the gap between young citizens and political institutions by equipping municipalities with innovative engagement strategies. Led by the Municipality of Tibi (Spain) and supported by a strong consortium of municipalities and youth organizations from Croatia, Serbia, Portugal, Hungary, Italy, Estonia, and Slovenia, the project fosters cross-border collaboration, knowledge exchange, and policy innovation to modernize democratic participation. Through nine thematic Work Packages, participants will explore new forms of engagement, tackle misinformation and digital democracy, develop youth-driven policies, and co-create a European Youth Manifesto on the future of democracy. The project’s activities will combine non-formal education, interactive workshops, digital tools, and policy innovation labs to empower youth and equip policymakers with practical strategies for inclusive governance. A key outcome will be the institutional adaptation of youth-friendly participation models, ensuring that municipalities implement sustainable, structured mechanisms for long-term youth engagement. The project embraces European cooperation as a driving force for democratic transformation, ensuring that best practices are shared, tested, and refined across diverse cultural and political contexts." |
