Description

Gennaker is a 976.5MW offshore wind farm project located in the German Baltic Sea. It is set to be the largest in the German Baltic and is among the first generation of Europe's subsidy-free wind farms. The project uses 63 power-boosted 15.5MW Siemens Gamesa turbines, which are among the most powerful ever deployed by the turbine maker. Skyborn Renewables, owned by Global Infrastructure Partners and BlackRock, is the lead construction agent and operator. The project has received the final permit from the state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and is targeting to sign corporate power purchase agreements (PPAs) for 70-80% of its capacity, with the rest sold on the spot market. The project is in the process of securing partners and aims for a final investment decision (FID) in summer 2026.
