George R. Brown Convention Center Expansion and Polk Street Abandonment

The project involves the multi-million dollar expansion of the George R. Brown Convention Center in Downtown Houston. As part of the expansion, Polk Street between Chartres and Avenida De Las Americas will be permanently closed and abandoned by the city. The expansion includes acquiring two plots of land near The Rustic restaurant and music venue, which will be relocated to another nearby site. The project is coordinated with the Texas Department of Transportation's North Houston Highway Improvement Project and aims to maintain the continuity of the convention center and meet current and future needs of meetings and events.
