Description	The existing wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) consists of a stabilization pond which discharges effluent to the harbour that contains a thriving mussel farming industry. The lagoon required upgrades to that the effluent would meet current environmental standards. The upgrades were divided into three phases, with the first two phases being constructed under previous infrastructure programs. Phase III of the upgrades will include the installation of a curtain wall to provide a settling area prior to ultraviolet (UV) disinfection, and a floating aeration system will be installed in the initial cell to provide improved nutrient removal.
