Georgia: Third Development Policy Operation

The Third Development Policy Operation (DPO-3) Program is the third in a series of three programmatic development policy operations intended to support the Government of Georgia's policy reform program to: mitigate the impact of the economic downturn in the short-term; and facilitate recovery and prepare Georgia for post-crisis growth in the medium-term. In addition to a satisfactory macroeconomic and fiscal framework, the main policy areas supported are: a) improving the efficiency and effectiveness of public finances; b) improving the effectiveness of the social safety net; and c) improving external competitiveness. The DPO-3, in the amount of $40 million equivalent, supports the strategic developmental objectives of the Government's medium term reform program described in its poverty reduction strategy document entitled<BR>'United Georgia without poverty', supplemented by the annual 'basic data and directions' document.<BR>
