The state has abundant subsurface heat, technical expertise from oil & gas and geothermal industries, and political support to develop geothermal power, heating, and cooling across the state. The report suggests that New Mexico could produce 163 gigawatts of geothermal power, more than 15 times its 2023 capacity, and recommends policies to accelerate geothermal production and job creation. |
