The subject of this project is the testing and implementation of a method for process visualization and process modeling in MKB/KMU, which is already being used in large corporations. This methodology is the "Business Process Model and Notation" language (BPMN, German business process model and notation) a graphic specification language in business informatics and in process management. It provides symbols with which business processes and workflows can be modeled and documented. BPMN2 corresponds to an international standard according to ISO/IEC 19510: 2013. The aim here is to sensitize and enable decision-makers in small and medium-sized companies in Germany and the Netherlands to use this methodology independently and in relation to their own business processes. In the future, this will make it possible to avoid, for example, media breaks, a lack of clarification of responsibilities or duplicate or overtime work. In the end, the companies will be able to control not only their production processes, but also upstream and downstream processes such as work preparation processes, procurement processes, product development processes or sales processes and to adapt these independently again and again. This project thus strengthens German and Dutch MKB/SMEs in their competitiveness in the international market of tomorrow. The experience and conclusions gathered in the GEP network form the starting point for this project approach. It has been shown that the manufacturing process is rightly the focus of entrepreneurial decisions, but the targeted control of the overall process, including the upstream and downstream processes, is becoming increasingly important. These findings, which the MKB / SMEs have gained themselves, now lead to submitting a new project application.
