Description

Description

The EU Trust Fund for Colombia (EUTF) is financed by the EU and some of its member states and is generally open to other donors. The fund aims to support the Colombian government in financing the implementation of selected areas of the peace agreement with the FARC guerrilla movement and to help the Colombian population overcome the negative consequences of the armed conflict that has lasted for over 50 years. The target group of the FC measure is primarily the rural population of Colombia. The project came into force with the conclusion of the peace agreement in November 2016 and is scheduled to run until the end of 2020. The founding members of the trust fund are the EU Commission, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Portugal, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden and the United Kingdom. The founding agreement was signed on December 12, 2016. Through the FC contribution of EUR 3 million, which has now been paid in full, the German side has acquired its own voting rights. The effective payments of all members into the fund reached almost a third of the pledges at the end of 2017. After an initially relatively time-consuming constitution process, the trust fund was able to start its work in the reporting period with the approval of the first concrete individual projects in the former conflict regions. The first payments were made to the organizations implementing the projects, and a technical cooperation facility was able to start its work in November 2017. The fund presented its first annual report in February 2018.
