Description
Description | The FC project German contribution to the Transition Fund within the framework of the Deauville Partnership (G 7/8) is part of the special MENA initiative, which was launched by the BMZ in 2014. The FC project aims to provide a financial contribution to the World Bank MENA Transition Fund (MENATF). This fund was set up in 2012 by the Deauville Partnership, which was launched in May 2011 by the G8 states in response to the Arab Spring. The World Bank acts as a fiduciary administrator of the MENATF and the donor funds paid in. In particular, technical cooperation projects are supported in order to strengthen public institutions and promote sustainable economic growth. This is intended to contribute to improving living conditions and economic stabilization in the six recipient countries (Egypt, Yemen, Jordan, Libya, Morocco, Tunisia) during the political transition process (program objective). The aim is to achieve a total volume of USD 250 million for the MENATF by 2015. To date, around USD 217 million has been pledged by 14 donors (Great Britain, USA, Saudi Arabia, Canada, France, Japan, Kuwait, Russia, Qatar, Turkey, United Arab Emirates and Denmark, the Netherlands and Germany). An FC contribution of EUR 10 million is the subject of the current financing proposal (stock audit share from FC module 2014 4103 9). |
