German-Danish youth creates the future

The project brings together over 2,880 students of more than 29 schools from Denmark and Schleswig-Holstein. By carrying out common project days at schools they will learn more about the different lifestyles, values and cultures. An intercultural understanding of youth is thus promoted (overall goal of the project). The youth will distribute this new intercultural understanding within their direct environment (family, friends etc.) and thereby act as change agents – leading to a higher intercultural understanding of all citizens (specific objective of the program). In addition, the German-Danish youth will develop common visions for the future – for a "resource-efficient and good life" within the joint INTERREG region. The visions will be published in order to initiate a socio-political debate on common visions, values and objectives (overall project goal). This "bottom-up approach" promotes significantly the coalescence of the INTERREG region (specific objective of the program). To achieve these objectives a new format for project days at schools (WP 3) will be developed. The project days will be carried out virtually and through personal meetings. For virtual meetings, a new platform for virtual collaboration will be developed (WP 4) in order to involve as many schools as possible. To ensure that the visions of youth are perceived in the public as a starting point for a public debate, intensive public relations activities (incl. press work - WP 2) will be carried out – supported by an annual, interregional competition (WP 5), where the best visions of the youth are awarded. Through the methodology, the project goes far beyond the previous approaches and projects. Students create holistic concepts through Systems Thinking and taking into account the 3 dimensions of sustainability (economic, environmental and social) and their interconnections. Another unique feature is the range of the project. By using the platform for virtual collaboration, almost all schools of the INTERREG region can be involved in the medium-term view.
