Description
Description | To create value in Mongolia based on the available raw materials, local expertise and applied technologies are required. A key obstacle is that - measured by international standards - the services offered by Mongolian universities in teaching and research are of inadequate quality, impractical and not geared to the needs of the economy. As a result, they are unable to provide the qualified specialists and managers as well as scientific and technological know-how needed for raw material-based economic development. The expanded and modernized teaching building and the library of the German-Mongolian University of Raw Materials and Technology (DMHT) provide the infrastructure capacity for market-oriented, professional engineering training and applied research, which contribute to fulfilling the university development plan to develop into a research-oriented university by 2025 (FZ module goal). The DMHT is thus making a contribution to training quality-oriented specialists and managers for sustainable, broad-based and raw material-based economic development in Mongolia. The FC measures are closely linked to the TZ module German-Mongolian University of Raw Materials and Technology and represent necessary infrastructural expansions of the campus in order to strengthen the conditions for sustainable operation of the DMHT. The FC module is sensibly supplemented by the expansion of overnight accommodation capacity on campus (second dormitory), financed from Mongolian contributions. The target group of the measure are school leavers who want to start an engineering degree with very good English and scientific knowledge. The total investment requirement for the above expansion is estimated at around EUR 9.7 million. The recipient of the FC loan of EUR 7.0 million is Mongolia, represented by the Ministry of Finance, and the project implementing body is the responsible Ministry of Education, Culture, Science and Sport (MECSS). The final beneficiary is the DMHT. A partner contribution of around EUR 2.7 million is planned, among other things for the construction of the second dormitory including equipment. |
