German Rail Infrastructure Investment Reform

The German government has decided to allocate 80% of the money from the CO2 surcharge of the German truck toll to railway investments instead of road. This decision was made after negotiations during a three-day retreat where the Government coalition partners discussed a reform package, including transport. The aim is to significantly invest in rail infrastructure, although there is uncertainty about whether the necessary billions for rail infrastructure will be made available.
