Germany Offshore Wind Capacity Expansion

A study commissioned by the German Offshore Wind Energy Association (BWO) highlights the economic impact of Germany's offshore wind sector. The sector currently employs over 31,000 people and contributes €14.6 billion in added value. The study emphasizes that achieving the target of expanding offshore wind capacity to 70GW by 2045 could increase employment to around 120,000 and add over €50 billion in value. A reduction in the target to 60GW by 2045 could result in the loss of up to 50,000 jobs and €20 billion in added value. The study calls for stable expansion pathways, investments in grid connections and port infrastructure, and coordinated industrial policy to support the sector.
