Description | The Gerus solar photovoltaic plant is a 19.3 MWp merchant solar plant in Namibia, developed by Solarcentury Africa and funded by BB Energy. It is the first merchant solar plant in Namibia to trade electricity on the Southern African Power Pool, selling electricity directly into the regional power market. The project was developed in partnership with Sino Energy and constructed by Alensy Energy Solutions within 12 months. It created up to 275 jobs during construction and is expected to generate around 50.8 GWh of clean electricity annually, supplying more than 14,000 homes and avoiding approximately 17,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions each year. |
