Description | The Gerus solar PV plant is a 19.3 MWp renewable energy project in Namibia developed by Solarcentury Africa and Sino Energy. It is the second purpose-built solar plant in Africa to trade electricity on the Southern Africa Power Pool. The plant generates 50.8 GWh of clean energy annually, supplying electricity to over 14,000 households in Namibia. The project was completed in 12 months and created 275 jobs during construction. It was supported by $20 million in financing from BB Energy, Solarcentury's energy trading group, marking the largest UK investment in Namibia's clean energy sector to date. |
