Description
Description | Aktion Sühnezeichen Friedensdienste (ASF) was founded in 1958 to take responsibility for Nazi crimes and has been active in European youth exchanges ever since. ASF organizes: Volunteer Services in Europe, European Youth Exchanges and Workcamps, Programs for Trainees, Digital Salons and Conferences, Empowerment and Education Programs, Handouts for Multipliers* and Campaigns, a Network against Right-Wing-Extremism and a multicultural program “History and Diversity”. All programs are promoted by good public relations work. The overall work aims to: - Promoting the engagement, the commitment and the connection of youth in Europa - Combating racism, Antisemitism, Anti-Gypsyism, hostility against LGBTQIA+, conspiracy narrations, Holocaust denial and right-wing extremism - Fostering an European Partner-Network promoting democracy, inclusion, diversity, solidarity and peace in Europe - Shaping a multilingual, interreligious, multicultural European culture of remembrance - Participation and empowerment of people affected by discrimination, including people with low educational qualifications, Sinti and Roma, people with disabilities, LGBTQIA+, immigrants and refugees. ASF's programs aim for sustainability. Alumni are involved in an engagement and all measures aim at follow-ups that lead to further development of the work and advance European networking. The work is mainly aimed at young people in Europe, and to a lesser extent at multipliers in youth work. In the years 2026/27, over 10,000 predominantly young people are to be reached directly. Indirectly, we will reach another 30,000 people in Europe. Through public events, good press work and campaigns, more than 400,000 people will learn about the ASF programs. ASF works within a wider network in European civil society and enjoys a high reputation among politicians, civil society and European institutions. |
